Is Iran The New Iraq? That's the opinion of Jon Sawyer of the Los Angeles Times, who says Congress has already authorized the use of force in Iran.
From today's Los Angeles Times:
NBC and probably also the CW network have refused to run advertisements promoting the Dixie Chicks new documentary film, Shut Up & Sing, about the backlash from their critical remarks about President Bush a few years ago. The movie opens today in a narrow run.
Now, who was it that complained about our American Media being too Liberal? And what about Freedom of Speech or Freedom of The Press?
President Bush signs the Border Fence Bill, prompting comments by Mexican President Vicente Fox that the fence is "an embarrassment for the United States."
I for one, am embarrassed. What ever happened to "Send Us Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Huddled Masses...?" Where would we be today if the Native Americans had built a wall instead of welcoming us with open arms?
English, Irish, African, Jewish, Chinese; this country was built on the backs of our immigrant ancestors and we need to honor them, not deny them.
Americans (and Israelis) will eventually realize that walls don't resolve anything.
President Bush signed the new terror interrogation Law today, the Military Commissions Act.
According to the American Civil Liberties Union, "The president can now, with the approval of Congress, indefinitely hold people without charge, take away protections against horrific abuse, put people on trial based on hearsay evidence, authorize trials that can sentence people to death based on testimony literally beaten out of witnesses, and slam shut the courthouse door for habeas petitions. Nothing could be further from the American values we all hold in our hearts than the Military Commissions Act," said ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero.
I would like to thank all of our elected congressional representatives Jane Harman, Diane Feinstein, and Barbra Boxer, for voting against this right-wing extremist legislation that chips away at the freedoms and liberties we as Americans hold closest to our hearts.

This is a visualization of a concrete barrier and clock proposed for pier plaza.
Maybe there is some safety/security reason for a barrier to block the open view of the plaza, but can we get an architect involved to design something that doesn't look like it came from the 1920's please?
And that clock has got to go! It destroys the view. It's an eyesore almost as bad as Emily's Piano Sign.
If the city wants to spent money on useless visual clutter, please spend it down at the end of the pier and replace that pathetic pole holding up the fog horn.
The matter will be taken up for discussion at this week's City Council meeting, Tuesday Oct 10. I encourage you to attend and speak up.
